Do you agree with me that they do not stay together and live happily ever after once the credits roll?
they don't.
it didn't work the first time so it won't work the second time.
its inevitable that they will break up once again.
i don't think they stay together either, but that's not the point. the point is that even though they don't work out, the time they spent together was worth it anyway, because at one point they are the happiest they've ever been. and everyone deserves that, even if it's only temporary. so that's why they choose to do it all over again, because they know it's worth it. they wnat to have those good memories even if it brings along more bad memories. that's why joel regrets erasing clemintine and tries to stop it half way through.
I agree with you 100%, Brett and I used to always get in arguments because even though they spell it out at the end, he thought they learned their lesson this time, even though they forgot everything.
