toonies

no intention

stillness is the move
my friend pat introduced me to the band dirty projectors. they're pretty great. if you like good music, get into them. (the first vid isn't the best quality, but the best i could find. you get the idea)

"I scream for the sunlight or car to take me anywhere,
just get me past this dead and eternal snow,
cause I swear that I’m dying, slowly but its happening,
and if the perfect spring is waiting somewhere,
just take me there.
"
If Winter Ends - Bright Eyes
(i don't really like bright eyes or this song, but i like this song's lyrics)

screaming for ice creaming

there's this one blog i check called apologies, and they haven't updated in a while, so everytime i check it, i see this picture.

everytime i want the vanilla ice cream with sprinkles SO BAD.

yum.

dear jerks,

i'm swearing you off.

i don't know why i'm attracted to guys who end up treating me poorly, or why i bother wasting time with them at all. so i'm swearing off all jerks. there's one in particular who wont leave me alone. he actually gets my blood boiling a little bit, and that's hard to do.
so, new rule for myself: nice guys, or no guys.
---

so in other news:

saw sunset rubdown last night, they were pretty good. a lot more mellow than i was expecting. saw them at the west end, which was newly renovated (but i'd never been previously so it doesn't REALLY matter). there was such a small crowd through i was surprised. maybe 30 people on the floor and another 15 in the balcony. i know they aren't super popular, but i thought there would be at least a few more fans than that. oh well.
after the concert my friends and i mosey'd down to old market square where jazz fest was going on, and we watched moses mayes play. and by watched i mean we danced our hearts out. so many sweaty bodies rubbing all over you, it was kind of gross, but whatever.
on friday again at the free jazz fest shows, i saw beast play and they blew my mind. i think i would even say that they were the best live performance i've ever seen.

mr. hurricane - beast

folk fest is so soon! i haven't bought a tent or gotten a lot of things figured out yet...like how i'm going to get there...but i'm working on it! EXCITED.

p.s: last night before the concert a few of us were hanging at chris's place. chris is friend's with this guy named hero from japan. he can speak english, but still has a a bit of trouble here and there. last night we had a good 20-30 minute conversation on al the ways you can use the word "fuck". we were going over how some people might say "fan-fucking-tastic!" and then he starts saying something and the only part we understood was that he heard it on sex and the city. we finally figured out he was saying "abso-fucking-lutely!" haha, it was ri-fucking-diculous.

just chattin

i had a pretty good canada day, weather was terrific.
i got so much exercise. biked to my sisters place, walked to os/around os, walked from os to my friends place at least 5 tmes back and forth, biked to my sisters. biked home in the morning.

the day ended with fireworks, viewed from a rooftop. felt like a movie.

folk fest is pretty soon and i'm excited. so many cool people i know will be there. i still need a tent, but have no money since work has cut hours to pretty much nothing (this week i got 10 hours. wtf).

went to school today to figure out what i need to do for school. my plan is still doing the double major in art hist/film. i'm so close to finishing my film major which is wicked. i have about a year and a half of school left. i'll probably do the half year during the summer next year. then all that will be let is a field trip to chicago fall 2010 and i'll be done. SO CLOSE. not really, but it still feels close.

songs i've been listening to a lot:
acid raindrops - people under the stairs
raindrops - basement jaxx
skins theme - fat segal

i'm pretty happy with life and friends right now.
i'm not happy with boys and work.
2/4 is not bad, but i'm workin on makin it better! if anyone knows of any decent paying jobs that are lookin for people, or any steller single dudes let me know!

some tunes

today i updated my ipod. it's lovely to have new tunes to listen to :)
here are some gems that i've added today:

the skins theme song - fat segal

under mi sensi - barrington levy (i love this guy, so good and chill)

raindrops - basement jaxx

it's all over - broken family band

i'm running - mistress barbara

there is no light - wildbirds and peacedrums (i actually couldn't find these guys on my downloading thing, so youtube is all i've got for now)

most of the music i uploaded to my pod were from skins season one. i think season two has better tunes, but i haven't gotten a chance to go through them yet.

whaaaat? uhm, yes please.

don't even have anything to say about this. just, YES.
