where's the rainbows and butterflies?
remind me next school year not to take a lot of disturbing subjects in one term. essay writing has not been cheery.
essay one: of the film c.r.a.z.y a coming of age story. easy peasy, not a big deal.
essay two: about the fusion of sexuality and death in horror films. mostly talked about zombies, necrophilia, etc. kinda twisted.
essay three: art history paper about rogier van der weyden's last judgement altarpiece for my art and death course. so basically i talked about the rising dead, dying people, the apocolypse and hell.
essay four: basically about evil in relation to a child in a family situation. i'll be talking a lot about rebellious teens in the exorcist and carrie, the horrors of childbearing in the omen and rosemary's baby, and how adults fear children because they expose the flaws in adult society.
yup, cheery subjects.
i think i should take a course next term on everything wonderful.
no more gruesome stuff for me for a while thanks.
in my euro horror class, we just watched the movie The Beyond and in it is a scene where for whatever reason, tarantula's crawl out of a fireplace and then slowly eat a man's face off. it's was gross.
the weird thing about the horror film class is how much everyone laughs during the movies. mostly because they get pretty ridiculous and we're all desensitized now i guess. if the reaction of my class to certain gore scenes in a film was taken out of context, we would all appear so twisted lol.
my death in art proff welcomed us into the course by saying "well aren't you a twisted bunch". lol it's a super interesting course.

california dreamin'
more weird dreams for me!
one part of my dream last night i was on a scavenger hunt in england with these two girls but we were all about 13. actually wait i just remembered more! i was in a helicopter with kelsey, gem and emma and we jumped out somewhere in the italian desert (i didn't know it existed either lol) and landed on the ops of these huge trees that had the same feeling as old broccoli (kind of rubbery) and then we climbed down from the tops of the trees into a big sandy desert and there were a bunch of other people there, and THEN we went on a scavenger hunt or something. but like i was saying, i guess they changed into two 13 yr old girls and so did i. so we're running through this big open field somewhere in a forest and we see this old teddy bear and something else that we need for the scavenger hunt so the three of us split up and run different directions into the field i go to the bear and around the bear there are tiny starburst candies (well that's what they looked like anyway) so i yelled to one girl asking if we needed to pick them up and she was a bitch and said yes rudely. so i pocketed as many of the candies as i could carry and grabbed the bear. then my cell phone started to ring. i had been waiting for a call all day from kelsey to find out if we won the trip to barbados and the bitchy girl picks up my phone then closes it and i miss the call. then i swear at her and wake up.
ion real life kelsey qualified to win a trip to barbados on the radio (she was bringing me if she won) and we found out this morning who won...apparently a girl named stacy. boo stacy.
another dream i had last night:
i was on america's next top model and was doing a competition, but it wasn't a model competition, it was a wig cutting/styling competition. i had a red wig made out of sparkly ribbon, and i was cutting and curling it but we ran out of time. everyone had to go outside the salon and the judge nolay (dunno if that's how to spell his name or not) who is the chubby bald one with the glasses, came out and modelled the wig. i got complimented on mine. then the host (who was originally nigel barker, then changed to brian from project runway and then turned into hugh jackman at the end) was talking about something and this cute boy comes up, and hugh jackman walks into the salon, grabs a pair of scissors and starts cutting the boys hair and tells us that he has a son who he never met, but who sent him a letter saying he was going to come get his hair cut one day. so we found out that was hugh jackman's son.
next dream:
i had a lot of library books overdue that i had to get to the right library but people kept telling me the books were theirs and i lost track of the books and was scared i'd have huge fines.
and then my dream from two nights ago:
it was my first day of school and i had forgotten to print off my schedule so i had no idea where to go. i stopped by the computer lab to see if i could use someones computer to check my schedge. i asked this asian guy who was typing on a computer if i could borrow it for a sec and he said sure, but he just needed to finish typing something. so he sits down at his laptop and types about 30 pages in two seconds. i asked him how many words he could type a minute and he said 10 456 words. i asked him if he had a Guinness world record. i don't remember his answer. later i was walking across campus and i had somehow pissed off the speed typer and he was now dressed in a big blue m&m costume. i could see him talking to security so i was hiding behind a wall, but then he saw me and so i booked it because he started chasing me (he wanted to beat me up). and so i ran onto a bus to hide with these two guys who were also running from the blue m&m guy. we went to the back of the bus and there was a drug deal going on. then i became best friends with the two guys and another guy who was 17 that apparently also got on the bus with us.
i have the strangest dreams. it's funny caz i can pick out some things from my dreams that happened in real life.
-in last nights dream, obviously the trip phone call thing was because i really was waiting for that phone call. the broccoli trees i think occurred because at vanessa's place last night when we were ordering food and vanessa asked what people didn't like, chazz said broccoli and i thought that was weird and though of old rubbery broccoli. i love broccoli fyi. maybe gem was there because she is on a real life travel adventure right now. the teddy bear part of the scavenger hunt looked like the stuffed animal i saw on the show ace of cakes that they were making into a cake.
-i was watching americas next top model before bed so that explains that. then i was reading vouge and they were talking about the sexiest men, one being hugh jackman.
-i also have a bunch of library books out right now from my school and if i lose them the fines would be insane.
-and the dream from two nights ago, i've been typing essays recently so maybe i secretly wished i could type 10 456 words a minute? the blue m&m costume comes from vanessa showing me old pictures and there was one of her friend steve at a halloween dance dressed in a blue m&m costume and she said "i bet he regrets that costume choice!" and then later that day i saw pictures of people standing with mascots and i remembered how much i hate mascots which is why i probably ran like hell and thought the fast typer wanted to beat me up.
these dreams and analysis come to you from the depths of this strange strange mind. the end.

why didn't i think of this earlier...
halloween '09, i'm going as tank girl! no clue why i never thought to before, i think it would be such an easy costume to get together too. i'd obviously pick one of her other outfits to base the costume on, and not the one in the picture above....
i'm not sure if many people would figure out who i was, but if they do, bonus points and a hug for them.
in other news:
i saw vanessa's new apartment today and i'm officially jealous. it's huge and awesome. i can't wait til i can afford to move out. a bunch of my sisters friends work in offices that need tons of secretaries so i might be able to get a secretary job for the summer. we'll see.
back to writing essays for me. muah muah arf.
oh p.s: so at ness's place, vanessa's friend whitney and i were making chocolate fondue. whitney is 100% deaf and communicates by reading lips. i was busy stirring the fondue pot while whitney looked for matches or a lighter. she couldn't find anything. meanwhile vanessa and her friend chaz had gone for a walk to pick up or dinner. and this happened:
whitney: i can't find anything, do you know where it is?
me: hmm nope, can you call chaz and ask ness where it is?
whitney:...uh...ya, but uhm...you have to call, i can't use the phone
me: oh, ya right. duh!
uggggh. wicked lol. she's used to it though. everyone always forgets when we're at the bar that we cant lean in and whisper something in her ear, you have to talk to her face so she can see your lips. since she reads lips though, it's like having a super power, she can look at anyone at any distance and can tell you what they're saying. neat!

too young
in the morning by junior boys. someone has it on the playlist at work. it's catchy.
i've decided when i can support myself, i want to move somewhere beautiful. and preferably somewhere with shorter/weaker winters. i want out of this flat, dirty, characterless place.
p.s: i saw i love you man tonight. it was decent, i laughed. but jason segel was no where near as funny in this one as i thought he was in forgetting sarah marshall or even in how i met your mother. i ate so much popcorn and drank so much frutopia i think i could vom. achoo.

blah blah
i like people with smooth voices.
i like when people have subtle lisps.
i like bad singers.
i like great singers.
i don't like close talkers.
i don't like when people mumble.
i don't like when people talk too loud.
i talk too softly.
i talk too much.
i also don't talk enough.
i talk too fast.
i say nevermind.
i say it's not important.
i say i tell bad stories.
i like talking about important things.
i like talking about nothing.
i like silences.
i like sending messages without using words to see if someone can guess my thoughts and intentions,
sometimes it works.

victoria, the photo edition:
first day. hello.
playing with my focus on my camera (get used to it, there are a lot of these)
my opa has thousands of slides in his house, all meticulously categorized. he gave me a box of ones he didn't want, not sure what i'll do with them yet.
my oma at her new home. she didn't remember me (she has dementia), but she was still happy and pleasant. she told me i was beautiful and commented on my marilyn monroe pin that was on my jacket.
parliament
kelsey and i have a theory about old men with hats being the worst drivers. my opa is no exception!
some graffiti i liked
i went to a wax museum...by myself lol. i remembered it being cool, it was pretty lame actually. but hey look, i met the presidents! (bill clinton is eyeing me like a predator, that laughing guy in the back is sure enjoying himself though!)
alice in wonderland looks like a major creeper
battleship in the ocean (yes craig, i too took a picture of the ocean for you!)
another boat in the distance
not so in the distance anymore..
fly fly away!
like father like son
grandparents always have the weirdest things in their homes...like a plaque of sheep bums...
saw this wandering downtown! they look so young and innocent, "stay sweet, love bret"
some of the box my opa gave me. a few hundred slides...
last day, good bye!

jumble update
off to victoria tomorrow at 5am, get back on tuesday at 11:30. miss me while i'm gone. i'll be hangin out with old fogies for the next 48 hours! sweet. i'm actually pretty excited :)
i'm also really excited, because i have a camera again! i bought this sexy little thing today:
it has the macro setting where you can take super detailed pictures of things really up close. which amazes me always. i'm a fan.
oh and in case you haven't seen it, kittens inspired by kittens:
and this is way over played on the radio, but it's very catchy and i like it, use somebody - kings of leon:
yay for old farts who mistake their pants for their shirts "why is my shirt so small!":

procrastonator
wheee! i'm comin round the corner to getcha!
stayin in on a saturday night to work on some homework. played on polyvore for a bit as well. i can't wait til i can wear outfits like this for real. summer come quicker!
i also rented vanilla sky tonight while returning another movie. i haven't seen vanilla sky since i saw it years ago in theatres with my parents. it gave me nightmares. i've decided any movie with sigur ros in it's soundtrack deserves another watch.
i leave on monday for victoria! hurray! its actualy teh worst time ever for me to go away because i have huge projects to do, but whatever. i'm actually getting pretty excited, i haven't seen my oma and opa in years, and it's been even longer since i've been to victoria.
p.s:
don't zooey deschanel and debra winger in terms of endearment look identical? i think so.

i'm in the need for a distraction. i just realised it's been 6 months and i haven't gotten anywhere. it's time to force myself into something.
i need to not need distractions.
i really want to complete my 101 goals list. i'm going to buy a new camera on sunday to help with that. (still looking for suggestions for some goals, let me know if you have any ideas)
(bonus! i just remembered i bought those easter eggs yesterday!)
i did something kind of silly this weekend. i wont say i regret it, but i'm still a little confused with myself.
in other news, my mom and i signed up for some fitness class, i think called zumba. you dance your way into shape. coordination here i come! also i think kelsey and i are going to try our hand at hot yoga. i think it mostly just makes you
i'm supposed to be working on a paper. i'm not in a research paper writing mood. i'd rather write about chocolate and a fitness routine apparently.
p.s: THE SNOW IS MELTING. WE'RE HAVING WEATHER NOT IN THE NEGITIVES. heck yes! bike rides and summer time loving are coming!
edit: stil not writing my research paper, i spenat some time on my 101 goals. i am now up to 69 goals. 32 more to think up.
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
stoked!
haters be jealous. i bought the best easter eggs ever.
i don't know what it is about the cheapest chocolate ever made, but i love it.
these eggs and those chocolate dollars rock my chocolate world.
if i'm feeling loving (which is pretty much always) i'll share. i would love to help you rock your chocolate world. (that's what he/she said...ew)
p.s: i was telling my friend that i thought his friend i met was weird. apparently his friend thought i was weird too. he said i'm too nice. i don't even remember what i said to the guy. i drew him a picture of a rabbit lol, i know that. the next time i saw this guy he said when he met me his first impression was that i was really mellow and happy and would make a good wife. that's an odd first impression i think. wife-material.
first impressions are odd in general, sometimes they're spot on, sometimes they're way off. on saturday i met this guy nathan who left for panama yesterday and will be gone for 3-4 months which is pretty cool. i also met his roommate, i'd only shaken his hand, but i think i'd met him before. either way my first impression of him was he seemed like a cool artsy guy and i assumed he was from gimli because that's where everyone i meet now is from lol. anyway when i was leaving, nathan's roomie saw me through the window of the pub and told me to come back in for a round of hugs, and when i was saying bye he said something and surprise he's Australian! didn't see that one coming at all! also while sitting at a table i was telling chris and craig that from the back this guy leaning on the stairs reminded me of russell brand. two minutes later he turns around and it was nathan's roomie! weird! (well not really i guess, i found it funny at the time...)
(oh ya, we go way back...we met once in hawaii...i was having a weird hair day...lol i think this is funny...it may just be really embarrassing)
speaking of russell brand (maybe this is the real reason for that previous story, i just wanted to tell you my dream and needed a segue), i had a dream last night that i was at a birthday party at my grandma's house, (but in the dream it wasn't my gma's house) and it was time to go to sleep or something. i was roomed up with this girl and russell brand and we had to share a big bed, and we all just curled up and cuddled to sleep. in my dream russel brand wasn't british though, he was from texas and had a really really strong texan accent and he was ridiculously tall. it was a cozy dream though. it's kind of weird having a dream about sleeping..

two trends i promise you, that i will NOT get into: neon and jumpsuits.
i did neon in the 90's i really don't need to do it again.
are any of these flattering? i don't think so. from the back they give you the biggest mum bum ever too. but that's just my opinion.
k this last one is not a jumpsuit i know, and i've actually seen these done really cute, and they look really comfortable because they're usually made out of jersey...but this one? yikes. just not flattering at all.
however, you can put me in this:
all stuff from asos. despite my dislike for the styles above, they have loads of really nice things. it's my favorite online window shopping place.
p.s: they had some moccasin shoes for $157 that look identical to ones we sell at my work that i can get for $30..i hate markups. i also hate how if it's by a big brand it costs more than if it's not brand name. i'll choose the cheaper non brand name one, it looks the same to me. and to everyone else.
