exclamation

Photobucket

i'm having a board game night with some friends from work tomorrow and i'm excited! whoever is not on my team for pictionary, be forewarned, i'm awesome!

p.s: i have a bruise on my wrist that looks like a dirt smudge and absentmindedly i keep trying to wipe it clean. i feel like such a dirt bag with it!

Dweeby McGeeks-a-Lot

i've felt like such a dweeb (aka maaaaajor creep) this past month!! i keep seeing people around and think "why does this person look so familiar?!" then i realize, oh, i've totally creeped their blog/facebook...

what is the internet doing to us?

whats even worse is when i see someone i recognize, think i just know them from facebook or something so act like i don't know them, THEN remember that i've totally met this person in real life once before. arg!

i hate when people recognize me though and i have nooooo idea who they are. or when people at work (rogers) read my name tag and use my name because i never know if i then know the person (like friend of a friend, or parent's friend, etc.) and then i get awkward and feel bad.
on tuesday when i was working this guy around my age came in with his sister and he looked a little familiar but not really, just like a customer i'd seen before and i say hi like i do to everyone and he says hi back. then at the til he asks "so what have you been up to lately blah blah blah" which freaks me out because he's acting like i hardcore know him and im totally clueless to who he is. after he left i thought he may have been some guy a few weeks ago who asked me while i was at rogers working if i'd gone to a certain bar the night before and struck up major convo with me. either way...i become an awkward person with stuff like that, but hey, at least i didnt blush!! (if you've never seen me blush, my blush is intense and i blush really easily, my entire head (ears included) go BRIGHT BRIGHT red. and its extremely noticeable. i never used to blush at all until about a year ago, then it just went haywire, i guess to make up for my lack of blushing previously.)

blushing (according to wiki): To blush is to display redness in one's face; the term is usually used when the redness is a result of an emotional response, which could reflect embarrassment, shame, or modesty.Blushing is more common in women. Considerable blushing can be observed amongst unmarried young girls at the prospect of sexual activity. (ahaha) Blushing can also be associated with being in love. Blushing is generally distinguished, despite a close physiological relation, from flushing, which is more intensive and extends over more of the body, and seldom has a mental source.

Photobucket
found this scarf on some website. they have scarves made out of upper case and lower case letters, and one made up on numbers. personally i would never wear it, but cute idea. plus, i think it would get caught on a lot of stuff and tear

http://www.enchanteddoll.com/
Marina Bychkova is a doll maker, and she is amazing. check out her website to see more of her work, it was so hard limiting it to these few images. the faces on the dolls are incredible, and each is very unique.

museum of the dead

Photobucket
so i just read an article at cabnit magazine online and the images thuroughly creeped me out. so much so that i didn't want to put scary pictures of corpses on my blog so i used this image of not so scary ones from the corpse bride. what am i talking about you ask? oh you know, just your everyday museum of the dead.

oh devendra, you loveable nut.

"Put me in your suitcase, let me help you pack
Cuz you're never coming back, no you're never coming back

Cook me in your breakfast and put me on your plate
Cuz you know I taste great, yeah you know I taste great

At the hop it's greaseball heaven
With candypants and archie too

Put me in your dry dream or put me in your wet
If you haven't yet, no if you haven't yet
Light me with your candle and watch the flames grow high
No it doesn't hurt to try, it doesn't hurt to try

Well I won't stop all of my pretending that you'll come home
You'll be coming home, someday soon

Put me in your blue skies or put me in your gray
There's gotta be someway, there's gotta be someway
Put me in your tongue tie, make it hard to say
That you ain't gonna stay, that you ain't gonna stay

Wrap me in your marrow, stuff me in your bones
sing a mending moan, a song to bring you home"

kidney's, bitches, and milk

this weekend was pretty good. very family filled, which for once was a good thing!

Photobucket
on saturday, my dad and i finally put up the wallpaper on the one wall in my room, and i think it looks pretty fantastic. since we moved, i'm redecorating my room with a somewhat "vintage" feel. the wallpaper is textured so you can paint over it and create cool effects. i'm kind of loving it white, so i may just leave it, but we'll see. the other walls i'm painting a soft bluey green color or a pinky purple color that i had in my last room. i think i'll end up with the bluey green just so i have a nice change. putting up the wallpaper turned into a lot more intense of a task then intended and somehow ended up with me getting wallpaper glue in my hair. my dad and i had some giggles though, so it was well worth it.

for father's day today, after work my family sat around and had a real family dinner with steak and bean salad (which i had never tried until tonight because i always assumed it would be gross, not sure why. it turned out to be pretty tasty, but the texture of some of the beans i didn't find too appealing. i hate that grainy mush texture of kidney beans and chickpeas.) we then went out for ice cream and played a few family fun games like pictionary and taboo. my sister and i slaughtered the folks with our skills. highlights of taboo (the game where you try to make your team mate say a word without using a few really important words written on the card):

for the word job:
vanessa: you have two of them and sometimes you get stressed out and worry about them...
me: KIDNEYS!!
*everyone bursts out laughing*

for the word jewels:
me: our dog!
vanessa: jewel!
me: ya but plural!
vanessa: bitch!
me: what? no plural!
vanessa: BITCHES!

for the word diary:
me: I'M LACTOSE INTOLERANT MEANING I CAN'T HAVE...
*dad who's checking to make sure i don't use the key words, starts laughing and giving me a weird look and i realise it says DIARY not DAIRY*

sometimes families are well needed and can serve up a lot of laughter. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

multitasking

i miss boys and getting flowers.
it was my sister and her bf's 2 year anniversary and he bought her these amazing flowers. they're gigantic.

(one of these things are not like the other...)

so i've been kind of going on a spending spree the last few days, and by spending spree, i just mean a necklace, toy duck and a purse...no biggie.

Photobucket
i have a thing for birds, and couldn't pass up this steal

Photobucket
matt & nat bag that uses all vegan material's which is always nice. and it's HUGE.

Photobucket
plus a picture of jewel snuggled up on my pillow being adorable

(p.s: does anyone know how to do a picture-cut? like an lj-cut, where you can hide some pictures unless you read the full post, just so there's not picture-mania taking up the full post?)

choking hazards part II

more things from my childhood, this time around...board games!!

Photobucket
dr. dreadful, pretty much the boy version of easy bake oven, but instead of cookies and cakes, you made "monster skin" and gummie spiders, mm mmm good.

Photobucket
don't break the ice!! i never had this game, but i remember my babysitter did, i'm not sure how to play though

Photobucket
don't wake daddy! also used to play this at a babysitters place. i don't remember exactly how to pla, but i think you pulled cards that would say how many spaces forward you had to move to get to the fridge or the bathroom or osmething, and for each space you had to move, you had to press daddy's alarm clock button an dif you woke him up you were sent back to the start!

Photobucket
hungry hungry hippos. used to LOVE this game. it required zero skill, just a whole lot of pounding on a lever

Photobucket
mouse trap! this game was fun, but there were so many pieces and i had such a short attention span, by the time my sister set up the game, i didn't want to play anymore lol

Photobucket
pizza party!! my grade one class had this game to play with, i remember plaing it while wiating for our turn to perform at an xmas concert, i was a soilder :)

oh and just two more toys that i'm sure you all remember:

Photobucket
calidornia raisons...not sure why they were made into a toy (and later a cartoon?!?!) they kind of look like a turd with arms, legs and wicked sunnies

Photobucket
popples! little stuffed animals that kind of could be turned inside out so that sat in a pouch of their own fur...hmm that actually sounds realy gross now...either way my sister had these and one used to turn into a flower, i was so jealous of it

p.s: does anyone remember that game where there was a timer and you had to quickly put all these different shaped pieces into their spot on a board, and if you didn't finish before the timer went off, it would pop and al your pieces would go flying everywhere? what was that was called?

oh! and remember that fishing game, with the fish that rotated in a circle and opened and closed their mouths and you had to catch them with your magnetic fishing rod and whoever got all of their color of fish out of the pond first won?

chicklets for teeth

i had to go to the dentist today to get some impressions taken for a night gard i'm going to have to start wearing. apparently i clench/grind my teeth at night.

fact about me: i get the giggles at the most innappropriate times.
today i was thinking about how big my mouth is, and if whenever i go to the dentsit and they tell me to open really big and i do, if they ever think "holy shit that's a big mouth!"
so taking the impressions was really awkward caz i had a big dumb grin on my face the whole time.

Photobucket
also, question: what does headgear actually do, besides embarress the heck out of the wearer?

you gotta have rain, to have. rain-bows.

Photobucket
today it is pouring. i thought it would be a good idea to go for a bike ride. it was.

i felt like a little kid again, not worrying about avoiding puddles but going straight through them because i knew i was soaked already and there would be a hot bath waiting for me at home.

when i was little and it was thunderstorming out, i always went for walks in the rain, and my parents encouraged it! maybe that's why i got sick a lot....

^me when i was a youngin (sorry for the crappy quality video, its all i could find that wasn't in spanish...)

And we were dressed from head to toe in love...the only label that never goes out of style

Photobucket

i just went and saw sex in the city with my mom and sister and it was awesome. i'm normally not one for chick flicks, but this one was pretty much perfect. if you like the show you'll love the movie. it makes me love love even more. i'm really awful when it comes to crying in movies if i'm by myself, i can usually hold it in when i'm with others, but gee whiz i was a mess in this movie. i was tearing up every five minutes because either something really good, bad, or funny had happened. if i'd been at home watching this i would have been a bawling wreck! loved it!

tomorrow i'm off to see the strangers with kelsey, i'm hoping for some scares, wish me luck!

stepping into a new world

saw this on boingboing today:

"Photobucket
Scott Beale says: "As part of their Image of the Day series, NASA posted a beautiful image of a sunset on Mars sent by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit on May 19, 2005.'"

:)

marcus showed me this song. it should be listened to while looking at the above picture and thinking about all the infinite possibilities.

lost and found

i have a special folder on my computer that i reserve for pictures i want to post on here, and i find i save quite a few pictures then forget to post them, so here are some from the lost and found:

-i don't remember where these are from, my guess is bored & beautiful or boingboing, but don't quote me on that. i also don't remember if these were real ancient anatomical japanese drawings, or just the style that someone has adopted in the present day, either way, i think they're wicked:

Photobucket
Photobucket

-this is the kind of bed frame i'm on a hunt for this summer, i work every weekend so i haven't been able to hit up any garage sales yet to search :(

Photobucket
(image from: google, ebay, or urban outfitters?)

-found out bill cosby is coming into town to hold a chit chat. in my film class we watched the movie baadasssss, and it was about the making of the movie sweet sweetback's baadasssss song, and bill cosby was a real guy who helped with the making of sweet sweetback's badasssss song, which i think is cool. go bill!

Photobucket

-cool bike, and yes it actually works.

Photobucket

-cool doll houses that you can decorate the insides however you want, supremely over priced. (probably from bored and beautiful, but not sure)
Photobucket

-dress i bought from superstore, the joe brand. i got it in navy though. a girl came into work today wearing this and i thought it was really cute and she told me where it was from so after work i went straight there and bought it :) the other day at work one of the girls pointed out i almost always dress in grey or black (or navy recently). i would like to stop that, but the clothes i'm drawn to are usually one of those colors (shades). not my fault! i want to go shopping with someone soon, i need some help with clothes, i'm in a rut and i can't get out!

Photobucket
(looks cuter on, it has ruffles by the chest you can't see too well in this pic)

-some magazines i think are dandy and that everyone should go out and read. i havent gotten the latest issure of swindle yet and i feel kind of sad, and i totally missed the last issue of planet too because its a quarterly mag and i had no idea when to expect it

Photobucket
Photobucket

-i don't think i like capital letters, they're to harsh and official

-50 days and i'm on a plane to go visit marcus in england/bulgaria! (we're planning on going to the big chill music festival in england where the mighty boosh happen to be performing on one of the days)

-i feel like i haven't done anything of importance lately

-go find the box set of my so-called life and watch it all.

to end this post, i will leave you with the dramatic teenage thoughts of angela chase:

"I couldn't stop thinking about it. The, like, fact that - that people - had sex. That they just *had* it, like sex was this thing people - *had*, like a rash. Or a - a Rottweiler. Everything started to seem like, pornographic or something. Like, Mrs. Krysanowski has sex. So does Mr. Katimsky. They both have sex. They could - have sex together. Like right now."

" Sometimes it seems like we're all living in some kind of prison. And the crime is how much we hate ourselves. It's good to get really dressed up once in a while. And admit the truth: that when you really look closely? People are so strange and so complicated that they're actually... beautiful. Possibly even me. "

"Sometimes someone says something really small and it just fits into this empty place in your heart."

"Huge events take place on this earth every day. Earthquakes, hurricanes, even glaciers move. So why couldn't he just look at me?"

"Rickie: If you were about to do it, okay, what would you want the other person to say, like, right before.
Rayanne: 'This won't take long.'
Rickie: No, seriously.
Rayanne: 'Do I know you?'
Rickie: No, like, for real. Like, romantic.
Angela: 'You're so beautiful, it hurts to look at you.'
Rayanne: 'It hurts to look at you?'
Rickie: How'd you think of that?
Rayanne: Where would it hurt?"
