you are lovely

Photobucket
if i ever get my flower tattoos, this will be one of the 3 kinds of flowers i'll get

i had a lovely day. in fact, the last few have been pretty nice.

thursday night i went out with some girls from work to the kings head and the toad for drinks and giggles. friday out to the bar with friends including julien and laura whom i haven't seen in months because laura was in mexico and then i was in europe. then last night i went with two friends to a house party (which i haven't been to in ages either). at the house party they had a dj that pretty much played remixes of my cd collection. we drank, danced and again, giggled like school girls.

today was the first day of my long weekend and last weekend, before school. i went to chapters and indulged in a grande light caramel frappichinno with extra caramel sauce. it was delicious on so many levels. i also picked up corduroy and nylon magazines to take with me to my next stop..st.v park! beautiful day out today. 31c with a 38c humidity index. which means its going to pour tonight, i'm hoping for some wicked storms.
i have no idea what i'm going to do tomorrow, but i better make it good!

zoom doom gloom

i went out last night with a few girls from work.

new boots were worn. drinks were had. laughs were made.
i had fun :)

i also ran into a friend of a friend and i didn't recognise him from first glance and i think i gave him a dirty look. i heard him shout, but only after i looked i realised he shouted my name and that i knew him! haha, i'm so bad with that because without my glasses if someones farther away i totally can't see their face well enough, but if i think i know them i stare at them until they come close enough that i can tell. it's happened a lot where it wasn't anyone i knew so i just hardcore stared at a random. sweet. i actually did that earlier yesterday to this guy scott who came into my work that i used to work with at the theatre, i haven't seen him in 2 or 3 years though, so that's fair enough right?

oh, did you hear about zoom airlines? they went bankrupt and cancelled all their flights. they're douches. that's what i took to and from england and that's what marcus was taking to get here :( i don't get how companies can do that, obviously bankruptcy doesn't happen over night, shouldn't they have to warn people or something? it's not fair that some people will lose the money they spent buying their ticket. that would have been about $700 (one way) for me if they'd cancelled it while i was out there. plus they left a bunch of people stranded. way to go.

a.b.c.d.i like lykke li.

Photobucket

-fact a) my dream boots look weird when worn with a skirt
-fact b) i'm wearing my leopard leggings today
-fact c) hmv said they'd hold the only copy of lykke li for me and call when it comes in. they didn't call, so i called them, and they sold it. LAME. so i bought it from music traders. take that hmm-va
-fact d) i'm always ready too early in the morning, which is why i blog so much in the am.
-fact e) i got a "hey baby" from a gangsta in a car yesterday. gross. wear clothes that fit.
-fact f) i don't like when anyone calls me baby or when someone says "aw, you're so cute" after i say something, because they're usually just saying "aw, you're so dumb"

have a great day everyone!

holy shit

blew my mind. watch all of it, it's insane. it's real, and dont with people. how the in the world would you practice this? or choreograph it?! nutso. i think this was in korea. lol i love the 50 or so blonde asian cheerleaders haha.

too many topics for one post, and no segways

i hit the stumble button then walked away from the computer to go cut up an apple. i was thinking about something, and wondering if it was funny or not (i thought it was funny, but most people don't get my humor), and when i get back to the screen, all it says in huge bold letters is "FUCK YEAH IT IS!" so, news flash, computers can read minds. and apparently, whatever i was thinking, really was funny.

during my break today, i decided to hop into shout and hush to see what they had to offer. normally i don't find anything, or i do and it's way over my budget. but today, i found the boots of my dreams for a ridiculously good price! i think i may have acted like one of those customers i dislike who act way too happy about a purchase. but whatever, they're killer boots. AND THEY HAD MY SIZE. i bought em, and am lovin them already. only funny thing is, i have to wear them with grandma socks (aka pantyhose socks) because i need something slippery to get them on caz my foot gets stuck in a weird spot otherwise...ya k so what, my feet are awkward. anyway, they're black "leather", just a bit taller than ankle boots, almond shaped toe, with buckles and straps kind of around the ankles. trust me, they look better than what i'm sure you're picturing. i like them any way.

so i couldn't find a picture of them online, but i did find these one's by the same brand which are pretty cute too, i think they'd make one side of your ankle cold though..
Photobucket

i bet johnny depp is a really cool guy in real life. but i could also see him being kind of cocky about not being superficial and vain, which would then kind of make him a dick. but i bet he's still cool, even if he was a dick. i actually don't even like many of his movies or his acting, i just think he's interesting.
i also think adrien brody would be a really interesting person. i finally saw the pianist and he was great in it! he's definitely one of my favorite actors (i listed my fav actors before and wrote adam brody instead of adrien brody by accident, i'm always doing that). i came across this picture of him though:
Photobucket
i really don't like when cool nerdy looking guys, do this and get ripped. it just makes me think of all the guys i know who are ripped, and most of them are really full of themselves and judge you if you're not toned too. but then again, one of the most muscular guys i know is a guy who always came into rogers, and he was always really nice. i think he was a regular at the movie theatre when i worked there too. so i'll assume adrien brody is a nice muscular person as well.

i finished reading the giver. it was good. i'd read it before but had completely forgot what it was about, i just remembered i'd liked it. if you've never read it before, i'd suggest you give it a read, it's short and for a jr.high reading level (i'm assuming, because it was a book assigned to read in grade 6 or 9 i don't remember) so you should get through it pretty quickly if your excuse for reading it is that you don't have time. i said read or reading a lot in this paragraph...which makes sense, but rereading it i saw that it was a lot. shoot, i just added 3 more.

when i'm thinking of something funny to do, or something that's a surprise, i'm so bad with trying to keep my idea quiet. i either have a huge grin on my face, or i start laughing so i have to give up my idea. even when i was younger and i'd play hide and seek, i'd always just giggle and give away my hiding spot.

my blog posts are all such rambles. i think i'll end this one now. after i show you this:

Photobucket
i saw this picture by robert hunter, it made me smile. i hope it makes you smile too.

the cups 3/4 full

i was about to complain, because i found something out today that puts a damper on things. but then i looked at the title of my last post (no samosas in the ear) and laughed. so i've decided to be optimistic. i'm not sure yet how to fix what came up, but instead of focussing on the negitive of that, i will think of some good things:

-i started reading the giver again, and i'm already really into it! (i've been getting bummed that i've picked up 4 books and haven't gotten past chapter 4 in any of them)
-i'm going for sushi and a movie with friends tomorrow (plus the movie is free!)
-school starts soon
-there's a cute dress and pair of boots and my work i would like (the boots are a tad small, but i may just force it. they're blue "leather" and come up to the knee.)
-kelsey is finally feeling better from her cold
- i found 3 pairs of cool pantyhose yesterday for wicked good prices. gotta love the bay. (pics below)
-the girls at work invited me to a party next weekend that's sure to be a great time
-tomorrow the lykke li cd is mine!
-i decided to try and wear only dresses this school year.

Photobucket
(fyi: it's really hard to take pictures of your own legs lol)

i'm actually in a ridiculously bad mood right now, BUT i'm tired of feeling sad/grumpy/whatever and i'm sick and tired of everyone complaining about really fixable things. so dear everyone (including me), just cheer up already. get over it and think positively.

another positive:
-my grandma just got here! i love my grandma!

no somosas in the ears

Photobucket
("restaurant" in the middle of nowhere (at the top of a mountain) in bulgaria. super misty, we thought we may end up as inspiration for the next slasher type horror film)

another dream, i hardly remember any of it, but i do remember that i was sitting in a restaurant with craig, craigs brother neil, and neils friend. i think we were ordering indian food. we were at some restaurant in the middle of nowhere and we'd been sitting for and hour and no one had taken our order, when they finally did the woman said "okay, so i'll let you know when we start making it. it's not busy enough for us to make it now, we wait until there's more people." since we were in the middle of nowhere, it wasn't likely that we'd get our food any time soon. so we decided to leave (but somehow we had gotten food and we were leaving and decided to ditch paying the bill because we had to wait so long before placing our order. for the record, i felt guilty). so then i was driving home, and i was at a red light when i looked out the window and saw a girl i went to high school with, whom i haven't seen since, named connie and she was holding a sign saying 60m/h (even though we totally drive in km/h). i was making silly faces at her through the window of my car, but she didn't see. then a whole gaggle of girls came out of a building and had a parade and blocked off the streets and i was stuck! then i woke up.

everything in the dream had a bit of yesterday in it. i think it's funny when you can pick apart your dreams and realise they're just a mashup of your day.
-craig: i saw craig yesterday
-craigs brother neil: craig was talking about neil yesterday
-indian food: vanessa and janette made samosas for dinner last night and they were really good. didn't look like the samosas i'd had before, didn't taste like them either, but they were still good.
-waiting a long time/bad waitress/empty restaurant: went to sals at 3am and had to wiat a while for our order to get taken and our food to be brought
-connie: saw pics on her fb yesterday
-sorority: saw a million previews the past few days for the movie house bunny
-m/h: i'd been thinking about england a lot yesterday, and remembered driving there. i never realized how different 60m/h and 60km/h were speed-wise.

sometimes dreams are scary. sometimes they're awesome. either way, i love them.

dream time is the best time

Photobucket

i normally have really strange dreams. i woke up in the middle of the night last night really sick and i'm guessing i had a fever because when i'm feverish my dreams are even more strange. at one point in one of the dreams i had last night, i gave a homeless man on the bus a half eaten donut of mine. he took one bite, then placed the rest into a compartment in his head through a big flap in his ear. at first i thought it was strange, until i remembered reading about his culture in history class, and i'd learned all about this ear flapped entrance to his storing compartment. still, i was kind of bummed, because i'd wanted the rest of the donut. it was an old-fashioned chocolate glazed donut from salisbury house. aka the best.

dear hair,

please grow faster and look like this:

Photobucket

love, lauren.

my sister and i...

...think we're really funny

Photobucket

Photobucket

last night was my parents 25th wedding anniversary. kind of nuts. my mom got married when she was a few months older than i am right now. i can't see myself ready for that at all at 19, but times were different in those days and people did get married in their teens rather than their late 20's/30's that people do now. it's been interesting watching their relationship. they told us a bunch of stories from over the past 25yrs that they remember having together and some were actually pretty funny:

-my dad's best friend al (who is now my god-father) actually got to my mom first and they dated for 2-3 weeks. neither my mom or al were really feeling it though and they were going to break up. at a social my mom, my dad and al were at, my dad got al to break up with my mom so he could swoop in because he really liked her lol

-my dad even remembers what she was wearing the first night they met (which is amazing because my dad won't even remember a conversation we had in the morning by night), so that was really cute

-my parents birthdays are about a week apart and when they were 21 and 24, they had each planned a surprise party for the other (and invited the exact same people) on two consecutive nights with out either of them finding out :)

it's nice to know that even after all these years and many rough patches, they still love each other.

good morning

sunshine: war paint for the bored and pale

i woke up way too early today. i've been sitting around for hours now, bored out of my mind. i don't have to catch my bus for still, another two hours.

p.s:
real facts from snapple say:
"On average a human will spend up to 2 weeks kissing in his/her lifetime". i say that's not enough.
hmmm, it also says:
"The average person spends two weeks of its life waiting for a traffic light to change."
well, i guess i'm not the only person who plays the red light game.

the wheels on the bus go round and round..

Photobucket
(lol at this picture)

so i just found out the transit drivers might be going on strike as soon as tomorrow! i'm so screwed if they do. arg. i bus everyday to work, and if it goes on til school starts, i bus everyday to and from school.
i don't mind having to then bike to work if transit does stop. it just sucks if its rainy or mega windy, because i'd rather not take a 45min bike ride in those conditions in a dress.
then for school, if it stops, i guess i could bike, but on thursdays i'm there til ten and i don't like biking in the dark, and on wednesdays that would mean biking to work, then biking to school, then again biking home at ten from school.

hey well, if it does happen and a bike is my only choice, at least it should whip me into shape! yay exercise! (but still, boo strikes!)

take me away to a far away land

Photobucket

i'd been reading and dozed off. when i woke up i was so confused at the fact that i was in my living room and not in england. for a second i worried something must have happened and i'd fallen asleep through my trip and had been returned home. really weird and disorienting. i was really upset and confused for a few minutes before the last week caught up with me. i have circle imprints on my hands from the blanket, i must have been holding on tight.

in other news i rode my bike to the far library and read outside on my porch all day. at least it's sunny and hot here.

i got:
-in the company of the courtesan by sarah dunant (i'd read another of hers, birth of venus that was good, so thought i'd give this one a try)
- the giver by louis lowry (i read such a long time ago in jr.high i think, and had always meant to read it again. should be a quick read)
-flowers for algernon by daniel keyes (in high school, the other english class read this and it sounded really interesting)

sweetie pies

Photobucket
the last picture makes me laugh so hard, i don't know why!

i had my first cupcake from the cupcakery on yesterday. wasn't that awesome. it was a chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing with cookie crumbles on top and a oreo cookie (just the cookie, not the full oreo) baked at the bottom. home-made cupcakes take the cake.

Photobucket
my sister loves sushi, so i was going to make these sushi looking cupcakes for her for her bday, but it never happened. maybe next year!

a photo says 1000 words, and so do i

so i've notice my blog has been pretty pictureless lately (i had used to always try and include at least one picture) and i'd been getting all debbie downer on you guys, so here, to get things back to normal, are some clothing and stuff! (please excuse the awkward poses)

in england, i didn't buy a whole heck of a lot because i didn't have tons of time to shop, but, this is what i left with:

Photobucket
shirt from topshop london
it is open in the back and closes with a tie
topshop in london was INSANE. there were i think 4 floors (for girls, and another one for boys) and each floor was about the size of a huge department store and stuffed with clothes from wall to wall. tons of cool clothes, but a)the layout was weird so i probably missed tons wandering in circles, b)i get really frustrated when i'm stuck in a crowd and there were way too many people in there and i felt really cramped, c) again, it was too damn big, d) it was expensive (well, not what i bought, i found it on the sale rack lol), e)when i was done, i couldn't find where to pay or how to get out!

Photobucket
cardigan from h&m in nottingham and dress from a booth at the big chill (i bought it caz it was super hot out one day and was hot in what i was wearing lol)

Photobucket
vintage store in nottingham for £10 (so 20ish dollars)
walked into the store (pretty much a warehouse), and there were huge piles of clothes and stuff everywhere! i went straight to the shoes, they had tons of super killer leather boots, but apparently the british have tiny feet and none of them fit, until i saw these!! i love em. super shocked when i found out how much they were caz they're in perfect condition and real leather. plus there were in a vintage shop, which usually means high prices. great find. marcus bought two 80's track jackets and some sweet short shorts lol for £20 total.

Photobucket
i also got these grey pants from uniqlo

Photobucket
at the music fest, i bought a mighty boosh tee, but didnt take a pic and couldn't find one online, so instead, you get a picture of noel fielding. he's a babe. i like my men blindfolded ;) ...and in leather pants...and, wait..heels? hmm. okay, whatever, he's still a babe.

then when i got back, i kinda went on a spending spree and got:

Photobucket
this watch from silver lotus in osborne. i asked the guy one day if it was a guys watch, he said no. next day when i went in to buy it he asked if it was a gift. i think it's a mens watch. but oh well, i like it. the black circle looks like a plane radar thing that you can set to another time zone.

Photobucket
dress from costa blanca. saw this dress before i left, didn't buy it. went in again, and it was 50% off, so went for it. it's comfy, cute, and slimming, what more could you want in a dress?

Photobucket
skirt from my work. i'd been lookin for one like this for a while. a plain black cotton-like material high waisted skirt with pockets, and voila, there it was on the rack at my work! (normally i prob wouldn't wear it with the top i'm in in the pic, but i was too lazy to fully change)

Photobucket
little boys shirt that fits perfect from joe superstore. apparently i'm the same size as 6-14 yr old boys.

then two more pics:

Photobucket
i was bored last night and wanted to try a certain drawing style, didn't know what to draw, so i just did me...i'm cool.

Photobucket
while i was gone, my parents painted my room for me as a "surprise" (i quote it caz before i left my mom said "there'll be a surprise waiting for you in your room when you get back!" lol, way to be obvious), it's a robin egg bluey green :) when i got back i finally got to but up my shelves and bring out all my dvds/mags/cds again! well, this is only a small portion, i didnt want the shelves to collapse so the rest are in my closet hah.

i read the book "the yes man" by danny wallace on my trip. so good. if you're looking for a book, this one's great. easy read, entertaining, and super funny.
"'I, Danny Wallace, being of sound mind and body, do hereby write this manifesto for my life. I swear I will be more open to opportunity. I swear I will live my life taking every available chance. I will say Yes to every favor, request, suggestion and invitation. I Will Swear To Say Yes Where Once I Would Say No.' Danny Wallace had been staying in. Far too much. Having been dumped by his girlfriend, he really wasn't doing the young, free and single thing very well. Instead he was avoiding people. Texting them Instead of calling them. Calling them Instead of meeting them. That is until that one fateful date when a mystery man on a late-night bus told him to 'Say Yes more'. These three simple words changed Danny's life forever. Yes Man is the story of what happened when Danny decided to say Yes to everything, in order to make his life more interesting. And boy, did it get more interesting." (synopsis from amazon.co.uk)

THE END. now go hug someone you think is cute.

i don't want to grow old

http://www.dayswithmyfather.com/

check it. it's really sad, but very sweet. reminds me a lot of my oma.

trying to be a positive polly

i realize my post this morning was super negative, so i thought i'd try and make up for it at lea ts a little by thinking positively:

-found out my folks want to go to holland in may, so i might be going also depending on how my money and job situations are like after this school year. (i was hoping to do an internship or something this summer, and leaving for a week right at the start wouldn't be the greatest idea). either way, i'd be happy going to europe for a 3rd time in 2 years, and i'd also be super excited by a film involved internship (plus i'd be making money not spending it).

-a bee flew into me really hard today while i was riding my bike to work (sounds like a negative, but check out this positive spin--->), but it didn't sting me so that was nice.

-my bike ride to work i thought would turn into a bad idea, turns out it was a freakin gorgeous day to do so, so yay me.

-i signed up for two art history courses this year just for fun. (i think i'll be the only one in there who's not taking it because they have to. it's the same prof as i had last time and i loved him, super funny and cynical guy)

-forgot my milk pills so i couldn't have a light blended caramel frappicino (i was even going to step up a size today!), so i was bummed, but i stopped for a slurpee on the way home instead and it hit the spot.

-there was an egg roll in the fridge when i got home from chinese food last night

-i think he misses me as much as i miss him

-no one came into my store for pretty much the last 2 hours of my shift so i curled up in a blanket in the backroom and [got paid to] read magazines

-a girl from my work told me as she was looking through my trip pictures she realized i "was gorgeous". which hey, was unexpected but super nice to hear

-i had a fine day at work. not good, but fine. i got bored and retyped the list of important phone numbers. and i was told i did a good job merching the front window.

Photobucket
Photobucket
one more negative though just for this mornings sake:
-i was told by strangers again today that i look like taylor swift. seriously people, it's just the hair. i should't complain because she is a hottie, i just complain because she's a super lame pop/country singer.

neggitive nancy

Photobucket
-picture from the big chill

-this is going to be a really bad week. i can feel it. filled with tears and tummy aches.

-my mom and dad's 25th anniversary is coming up and my sister and i still haven't figured out the gift.

-i'm riding my bike to work today and i think it's going to turn into a bad idea because it looks windy out.

-i need to go to the doctor caz i've been having super sharp bursts of pain right below the center of my rib cage for th epast few days and it was happening in engalnd also.

-this school term, i'm at school to 10pm twice a week. kill me.

-i'm in a hideous mood. i don't want to be here. i don't want to work. i just wnat to curl up in a ball for a while and cry and eat cupcakes.

-my feelings are a big jumble of a mess.

+i went to go buy the lykke li cd a hmv, but it's not in til the 26th. i get the only copy :)

-i lost or left my new exspensive bathing suit top in engalnd.

+i went through a bunch of blank cd's marcus gave me when he moved back to the uk, and i went through them and found that 4 weren't blank. the mixes are really good. i had one on and the song crosses came on, this is the song i've been searching for for months but didn't knwo who it was until about a week ago, and here it's been in my room for months and i never knew. made my heart swell when it came on.

Don't you know that I'll be around to guide you
Through your weakest moments to leave them behind you
Returning nightmares only shadows
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now
Crosses all over, heavy on your shoulders
The sirens inside you waiting to step forward
Disturbing silence darkens your sight
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now
Crosses all over the boulevard
The streets outside your window overflooded
People staring they know you've been broken
Repeatedly reminded by the looks on their faces
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright

lauren is borin

i was talking with kelsey this morning and she was telling about a bunch of stuff she's been up to since i've been gone, including making a tattoo consultation appointment and signing up for two dance classes. this has inspired me to kick myself into high gear and try something new too. i've been talking for awhile about stuff i'd like to do, but just never got around to it, so here, in writing are a few things i'd like to do:

-sewing classes
-ballet classes (everyone laughs when i tell them this, because if you know me, i'm 100% a clutz, but i have always secretly wanted to take dance, but i'd always been to shy, but now that i'm not as sh, i would like to give it a shot)
-join a club at school
-apply for a job at my school's bookstore
-get my tattoo

that's all i have for now. pretty much, i just want to do something new and meet a lot of new people. i've felt incredibly boring this year.

the pervs are getting younger

while i was away, i left my phone plugged in so it wouldn't die. that way if anyone called it would show up on my call log and i could call them back. my dad unplugged my phone and it died. so today, upon my arrival home from europe, i get the following untracable voicemail messgae:

"ok i was wondering if lauren was there caz she's supposed to suck my dick or something and give me a long blow job for 50 bucks. call me"

by the way, it's like a 5 yrs old on the message.
(and you can tell it's not someone talking in a kid voice, it's actually a little kid...)

i think this wins for most random phone call ever. definitely from someone i know, just have no idea who. although i'm assuming its from a guy friend?

see you on monday :)

something about her in person i don't like. but i really do like her music. i saw her at big chill at she was a really good performer.
